Located in the territory of Ban Pong Nam Ron, Moo 7 and Ban Pha Prasert, Moo 6, Doi Hang Sub District, Muang District, Chiangrai Province, in the preservation area (Zone C according to the Zoning Map) covering approximately 4,700 rai of area. The Royal Forest Department has proclaimed it to be a forest park on December 3, 1997.
Topography
The landscape is high hills in the Doi Chang Mountain Range, 400-1,302 meters higher from the sea level. The average steep of the general area is 40%
Climate
Climate condition here is tropical monsoon that has influence of the southwest monsoon in rainy season and the northeast monsoon in the winter.
Rainy season is started from June to October; winter, November to February; and summer, March to May.
Flora and Fauna
Dry virgin forests are found most, whereas some hill virgin forests found out in high peaks. Generally forest condition right here is quite rich. Found plants are rubbers, red cedar, moulmein cedar, Yomhin, Kor, wild white champaka, ceylon oak, Tacrum, Tha-Lo, Portia tree, Prachao-ha-pra-oung, etc. The wild animals found are as follows:
Mammals: - barking deer, wild boars, palm civets, jungle cats, Asian golden cats, mouse deer, civets, colugos, porcupines, mongooses, Siamese hares, bats, squirrels, tree shrews, bamboo rats and rats.
Birds: - hawks, storks, laughing thrushes, black-crowned night-herons, coucals, partridges, doves, fork tails.
Amphibians: - various kinds of snakes, Indian monitors, pangolin, Wild Tokay, etc.
Fishes: - great white sheatfish, red-cheek barb, red-tailed snakehead, rasbora.
