Phu Bor Pid Forest Park located in Na Arn Sub-district, Chaiyapreuk Sub-district and Muang Sub-district in Muang District, Loei Province; situated in Phu Huay Mak Natinal Reserved Forest, Phu Tok Forest and Phu Bor Pid Forest. Referring to the ministerial regulation, issue 870 (1979), its covered the area of approximately 4,375 rais. The Royal Forest Department declared this forest park on April 10, 1996.
Topography
Its very high and distinguish mountain wheres located close to town. Its about 500-600 metres above the average sea level. The mountain structure is comprised of rock ranged along the west and east. Many caves existed. Abundant forest has been found in western and southern parts.
Climate
Its climate pattern can be divided into 3 seasons. Rainy season started from June to September. The amount of rainwater is average. Winter started from October to January. The weather in this period is pretty fine. And Summer started from February to May. It will be dry and hot.
Flora and Fauna
The Dry Mixed Deciduous Forest covers about half of the overall area. Bamboo forest is also available. Both forest types are still thick and abundant. Natural reproduction is going fairly well. Flora found consist of Xylia xylocarpa, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, Irvingia malayana, Hopea odorata, Afzelia xylocarpa, and so on.
Fauna found consist of endangered and rared species such as serow, mouse deer, wild pig; and common animals like squirrel, Indo-chinese ground squirrel, monitor and mongoose.
